The Way Vision
Your S.H.A.P.E. —Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences— all work together to determine how God has designed you for ministry. What God has made you to BE determines what HE intends for you to DO!
THE WAY CHURCH Needs You!
Most of what you see going on at THE WAY CHURCH is done by regular folks who have determined to give their time and energy serving in the way God has designed them. Every person has a part to play, and every part is important! There are no small jobs at THE WAY CHURCH. Everything from serving in the nursery or greeting at the door to leading a small group or singing in the chorus has the opportunity to touch the lives of others and make an impact in the Kingdom of God!
To help you find out how God has uniquely shaped you for ministry, THE WAY CHURCH occasionally offers our S.H.A.P.E. class. The class incorporates teaching, self-examination, and coaching to help you determine the ministry that’s right for you.
IN the City For Good!
For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. – Matt. 25:35
THE WAY CHURCH is in the city for good! We place a very high value on being an active participant in meeting the needs of the community we meet in. The Bible says we ought to not just say we love each other, but show it by our actions (1 John 3:18). At THE WAY CHURCH, we strive to demonstrate love in practical ways throughout the community through our Kindness and Compassion Projects.
Projected/Proposed Team Outreach Efforts
COMMUNITY-Our ministry team will strategically target the mid-downtown area because there is a need for a ministry
Kindness Projects are random acts of intentional kindness. Such as Business Blast, a pre-packed small package of candy delivered to people working at businesses in the neighborhood. With warm smiles and friendly greetings we give the packages to folks and let them know it was "to demonstrate God’s love in a practical way by spreading a little kindness, no strings attached." It’s awesome to see how someone responds when they are surprised with kindness.
Compassion Projects are undertaken to provide help to those who need it most. Future compassion projects will include collecting coats and delivering them to children and families at their homes and schools. We will also deliver meals for Thanksgiving and provide families with gifts and food for Christmas.
The Urban Refuge Leadership Team
The Urban Refuge leadership team is made up of a variety of full time and volunteer positions. We seek to incorporate others into the leadership team as God grows them in skill and character. The plurality and diversity of our leadership team offers some great benefits. Different team members bring different strengths, insights, and experiences to the table.
If you’re new to THE WAY CHURCH you probably have some questions. Where do I get started? What is this church all about? How do I meet others? How can I get involved? Where can I go to ask questions about Christianity? Well look no further, here’s the place to ask those questions in some programs created just for you.

The proposal will be for the kids programs meet during the service so you and your kids can enjoy church. We have fun childcare and activities for the little ones and our Promiseland program for kids from 5 years through 11 years old. We will combine activity stations, music, drama, the arts, small group huddles and large group games to make the occasion your kid’s favorite time of the week.
KIDS AND YOUTH
Kids, they are the future of the church, but they are the present as well. At THE WAY CHURCH we desire to teach them about Christ’s love – the most exciting lesson they will ever learn – with an approach that is fun, child-targeted and relevant.
Preschool Program & Nursery – for children under 5 years old
For children under the age of five we will have a preschool program and nursery staffed with trained caregivers and equipped with toys and activities for kids. Parents can enjoy the Sunday morning service undistracted knowing their children well are cared for.
Promiseland Program – for children between 5 and 11 years old
Our Promiseland program is designed for kids from 5 years through 11 years old. We will combine activity stations, music, drama, the arts, small group huddles and large group games to make the hour a kid’s favorite time of the week.
FUEL 180 Teens Program – for kids between 12 and 18 years old
FUEL 180 is designed for teens ages 12 to 18. This is definitely not your usual teen group! Obviously we talk about God and spirituality—it’s a church after all! Do you often feel God is distant? Here God is made relevant to you. You are challenged to fuel your lives to the 180! (If you’re wondering what that is, check us out and find the answer.) Also we have fun hangin' out and building friendships that will last a lifetime. We will do many outreaches as well as serving our community; after all, it is better to serve than to be served! Get it! Come join us for fun with teens just like you. We dare you!
"Teen 180" is spiritually aimed to meet your growing needs. Ages 12 to 18 are welcome. Join in the fun and meet teens your age. If interested please contact Bro. Kenneth Jackson.
Mission to the City
A core value at THE WAY CHURCH is taking the Gospel of God’s love out to the world (this is known as the “Great Commission”—found in Matthew 28: 18–20).
The Ethiopian mission project is a passion of this ministry; at THE WAY CHURCH, you will have the opportunity to go and serve in Africa. The Antcha School in the countryside of Ethiopia has 720 students and THE WAY CHURCH mission team goes each year.
Don't miss out on our awesome fellowship opportunities with the other THE WAY CHURCH Singles!
"Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up... Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break." Ecclesiastes 4:9 (TEV)
"We understand what love is when we realized that Christ gave his life for us. That means we must give our lives for other believers." 1 John 3:16 (GWT)
—Both scriptures were used in The Purpose Driven Life, written by Rick Warren.
THE WAY CHURCH Monthly Couples Gatherings will be led by one of the ministers of the church. Couples will consist of married, engaged, or seriously dating. CARE TAKERS MINISTRY
Christ-centered, Bible-based recovery that works! Open to those with any struggle, habit, or hurt. Fellowship and celebration of God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery Principles.
Purpose of Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery's focus is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through Eight Recovery Principles and the Christ Centered Twelve Steps.
This experience allows us to be changed. We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another. In addition we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life problems.
By working and applying the Biblical principles we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.
As we progress through the program, we discover our personal, loving, and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ.
Who is Celebrate Recovery for?
You, me, him, her, old, young... anyone! The beautiful thing about Celebrate Recovery is that is for everyone who wants to be involved. The biblical principles modeled through the 12 steps can help us all. So this isn't about drugs and alcohol, it is about growth, getting healthy again and ultimately becoming closer with God. Whatever addiction, struggle or compulsive behavior you may have, Celebrate Recovery can help.

Baby brother"if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." May God continue to richly bless you, your family, and members of the Way.
